Committees

There are a number of committees that work within the organization, and they each have a specific task. They are responsible to the general membership of the organization, for developing their action plan for the year, and raising the funds needed to implement these plans.

Membership Committee

The objective of the Membership Committee is to plan ways to increase the membership of PRUDE Inc.

Heritage Committee

The aim of the Heritage Committee is to research and collect data regarding the African heritage as it relates to New Brunswick, North America, and the world. We are in the process of building a Mathieu de Costa Heritage Center.

Cross Cultural Awareness Committee

The Cross Cultural Awareness Committee is very involved in promoting various cultures, and showing how these different groups of people should, and must work together. This committee offers workshops at PRUDE Inc., and also visits schools, organizations, and social clubs to promote these ideals.

Graveyard Committee

This committee is responsible for the upkeep and maintainance of the Black Settlement Burial Ground in the Willow Grove area.

Black History Month Committee

The mandate of this committee is to ensure that every resident of New Brunswick is aware of the fact that February is Black History Month, and why it is important to know black history.

Seniors Committee

A drop in center has been established in the offices of PRUDE Inc., to enable the seniors of the community to plan and carry through with their own activities.

Youth Services Project

A six month program for youths aged 18 - 24 yrs. It consists of black (African) history studies, life skills course, computer applications, along with setting career goals, and employment preparations.
